A.F. Bridges Awards Named

The annual A.F. Bridges Awards have been announced for the state of Tennessee.

In District 8, the School System Administrator of the Year was given to Sandra Harper, of the Trenton Special School District.

Principal of the Year honors went to David Byars of Westview.

Athletic Director of the Year was Mark McClain of Covington.

The female Coach of the Year honors went to Teresa McCall of Greenfield High School, while the male Coach of the Year was awarded to Scott Hewitt of Dresden High School.

Milan’s Donny Joyner was selected as the Official of the Year, with Charles Dawson of Dyer County named the Contributor of the Year.

A.F. Bridges Divisional Awards were announced for 27 schools who portrayed exceptional sportsmanlike conduct on the field of play were also announced.

In Class-A, Union City, Lake County and Halls were selected, with Dyersburg and South Gibson named in Class-2A.

And in Class-3A, Henry County was named.

This Wednesday, at the University School of Jackson, one school from each division will be selected as the winner of the A.F. Bridges sportsmanship award.
