Barfield Named New Chief

November 13th, 2012 - By Charles Choate

The City of Union City has a new Chief of Police, and he is no stranger to the department.

At the recommendation of City Manager Kathy Dillion, longtime Union City officer Perry Barfield was awarded the position Tuesday morning.

Following his swearing in by the City Manager, Barfield told KYTN News that the opportunity to serve as Chief of Police was as professional aspiration.

Barfield began his law enforcement career with the Martin Police Department, after coming from his home in Nashville to attend UT-Martin.

He began his police career in Union City in May of 1982, and has served as Assistant Police Chief since 2001.
