BREAKING NEWS: Current Warnings, Advisories and Cancellations

         The National Weather Service has issued an Ice Storm Warning for Gibson, Carroll and Crockett County until 6:00 Wednesday morning.

Forecasters say up to a quarter of an inch of freezing rain may accumulate in trees, power lines and road surfaces.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been extended for Obion, Weakley, and Dyer County effective until 6:00 Wednesday morning, and a Winter Weather Advisory has been posted for Lake County until 8:00 tonight.

Forecasters from the Memphis Weather Service say there is the chance of freezing rain, with ice accumulations of one to two tenths of an inch.

Falling ice will mainly affect trees, power lines and elevated road surfaces.

Weather Service officials say some damage to power lines and trees are possible, with slick and dangerous road conditions developing on bridges and other surfaces.

Temperatures today are expected to remain around 32-degrees.

Due to these weather related conditions, several high school basketball games have already been postponed.

Union City at Lake County

Haywood County at Obion County Central is cancelled for tonight.

Westview at Dyersburg has been cancelled and moved to January 28th.

Bradford at Greenfield will be played Thursday

Also, Gleason at West Carroll and Big Sandy at McKenzie will not be played.

And tonight’s Dresden at Huntingdon basketball game has been postponed until Saturday night.

Night classes at UT-Martin have been cancelled.

Obion County, Weakley and Lake County schools have already dismissed for the day.
