Business Fined for Underage Alcohol Sales

December 19th, 2012 - By Steve James

At the Alcohol Beverage Control Board meeting last night, fines and probation were handed down to the six Martin businesses that sold alcohol to minors.

Those cited for the sales were Tony’s Sports Bar and Grill, Brandy‚Äôs, The T-Room, Hucks, The American Legion Post 55, and JJ’s Quick Shop.

All the establishments were fined $100 dollars and given six months probation. If another incident occurs within that time, they could lose their alcohol selling license.

Mayor Randy Brundige said all 27 businesses that sell alcohol in Martin were tested during the operation last month. The Mayor said with the six that were cited, that comes to about 25 percent of the establishments that can sell alcohol.

Mayor Brundige said that number is too high, so to curb this trend, the fines for any future infraction will now be $1500 dollars for each incident.
