The St. Louis Cardinals have now lost six straight games, their lead in the Central Division, and possibly the services of catcher Yadier Molina.

The Cardinals lost their 6th straight game yesterday, when the Pittsburgh Pirates swept a double header at home, winning 2-1 in 11 innings, and 6-0 in the nightcap.

In Game 1, the two teams were tied at the end of nine innings, after Pedro Alvarez hit an RBI double in the 1st inning, and Matt Holliday collected an RBI on a groundout in the 3rd inning.

In the 11th inning, the Pirates won the game when Alex Presley hit a ball, that was deflected by Cardinal reliever Kevin Siegrist.

St. Louis batters left 21 runners on base in the loss.

In Game 2, Pittsburgh stretched their Central Division lead to 1.5 games over the Cardinals, with the actual winning run coming in the 2nd inning.

With Starling Marte at the plate, Yadier Molina failed to hold a Tyler Lyons pitch, giving the Pirates the 1-0 lead.

The Pirates then put the game away in the 5th inning, when All-Star centerfielder Andrew McCutchen took Lyons deep to left field for a 4-0 advantage.

The Cardinals managed only three hits in the game, and have now only scored six runs in the six game losing streak.

St. Louis will send Adam Wainwright to the mound tonight against Pittsburgh, with broadcast time on 1049 KYTN set to start at 5:10.
