Cardinals Lose Season Opener

Cardinals 2The Arizona Diamondbacks pounded out 15 hits last night, to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-2 in the season opener in Denver.

The Redbirds took the lead in the first inning, 1-0, when Matt Holliday followed a double by third baseman Matt Carpenter.

Arizona got to St. Louis starting pitcher Adam Wainwright in the third inning, and took a 3-1 lead on a 2-RBI hit by A.J. Pollock.

The Diamondbacks then added a single run in the 5th and two in the 7th, to give Wainwright and the Cardinals the loss.

Daniel Descalso drove in the other run for St. Louis in the 7th inning.

On the night, Wainwright pitched six innings, giving up 11 hits and four runs, while striking out six.

The Cardinals will take on the Diamondbacks again tonight, with broadcast time on 1049 KYTN  starting at 7:45.
