Cards Beat Reds in 10 Innings

June 10th, 2013 - By Charles Choate

The St. Louis Cardinals won the rubber game of their series at Cincinnati Sunday night, but it took extra innings to do it.

The Redbirds put seven runs on the board, and beat the Reds 11-4.

The Cardinals played catch-up all night, tying the game at 2-2 in the 4th inning, off of the bat of Yadier Molina.

Carlos Beltran tied the game again in the 7th inning, when he barely missed his second home run of the night.

Going into the 10th inning, Daniel Descalso gave St. Louis their go ahead run with an RBI double, but Matt Holliday put the game away when he homered with bases loaded.

The win puts St. Louis 4.0 games in front of both the Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates in the Central Division.

The Cardinals take the day off today and begin a three game series Tuesday night in New York against the Mets.
