The St. Louis Cardinals evened their National League Division Series at one game each, with a 12-4 win over the Washington Nationals.

The Cardinals banged out 13 hits in the game, including four home runs, as they now travel to Washington to continue the series.

The Redbirds began their offensive output in the 2nd inning, when third baseman David Freese tied the score with an RBI hit.

St. Louis continued to extend their lead, when Allen Craig made the score 5-1 in the 3rd with a solo home run.

The lead grew to 8-3 in the 6th inning, with Carlos Beltran hitting a solo home run.

Beltran then completed his three RBI day, when he batted in the 8th and connected on a 2-run home run.

The Cardinals will now send Chris Carpenter to the mound Wednesday, as St. Louis looks to take a 2-1 advantage in the series.
