July 23rd, 2013 - By Charles Choate

* The St. Louis Cardinals send rookie Shelby Miller to the mound tonight to face the Philadelphia Phillies. The Cardinals are still on top of the Central Division, holding a 1.5 game lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates and 4.5 game lead over the Cincinnati Reds. The Redbirds are 2-and-1 since the All-Star break.

* Andrew McCutchen belted a pair of two-run homers off of Washington Nationals starter Dan Haren, giving the Pittsburgh Pirates a 6-5 win at Washington. The Nationals have gone 0-4 since the All-Star break to fall eight games behind the East-leading Braves.

* Home runs by Devin Mesoraco, Shin-Soo Choo and Jay Bruce powered the Cincinnati Reds to an 11-0 win over the San Francisco Giants. Bronson Arroyo picked up the win for the Reds, running his record to (9-7).

* The New York Mets Dillon Gee carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning, but a passed ball helped the Atlanta Braves score the tying and winning runs in the ninth inning of a 2-1 win. Reed Johnson singled home the tiebreaking run with two out, allowing the Braves to end a two-game skid and stretch their lead in the NL East to seven games over Philadelphia.
