Cards Losing Streak at Seven Games

August 1st, 2013 - By Charles Choate

The St. Louis Cardinals have now seen their losing streak run to seven straight games, following their 5-4 loss last night at Pittsburgh.

The Cardinals loss also drops them 2.5 games behind the Pirates in the Central Division.

With ace Adam Wainwright on the mound last night, the Redbirds started strong, taking a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning on a Daniel Descalso hit.

By the 5th inning, Pittsburgh had rallied and tied the score at 4-4, thanks to an Andrew McCutchen sacrifice fly.

St. Louis then saw their losing streak extended, when Neil Walker singled off of Cardinal reliever Trevor Rosenthal with two outs.

The Cardinals and Pirates will play the final game of the series tonight, with broadcast time on 1049 KYTN set to start at 5:10.
