The St. Louis Cardinals moved closer to clinching the Central Division Crown Wednesday, with a 4-1 win over the Washington Nationals.

The three game sweep by the Cardinals now leaves the team with only three regular season games at home against the Chicago Cubs.

St. Louis took a 3-1 lead in the game in the 4th inning, which started with Matt Holliday reaching on a hit-by-pitch, followed by a base hit by Matt Adams.

With both runners on, catcher Yadier Molina then delivered a two RBI hit.

In the 6th inning, Adams gave St. Louis their final run of the day with his 17th long ball of his rookie season.

Shelby Miller picked up his 15th win of the year, with Trevor Rosenthal gaining his third consecutive save.

The Cardinals now take the day off, and begin play against the Cubs Friday night at Busch Stadium.
