After a scoring drought that threw the St. Louis Cardinals into a seven game losing streak, the Redbirds have now rebounded with back-to-back 13 run games.

The latest coming last night in Cincinnati, as the Cardinals pounded the Reds 13-3.

It didn’t take long for the offensive attack to start, with David Freese giving St. Louis a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning.

By the 5th inning, Daniel Descalso upped the score to 10-0, with a solo shot to right field.

In the same inning, Allen Craig showed his power in adding two more runs to the scoreboard.

Descalso finished off the Cardinal’s scoring with his second home run of the night in the 6th inning.

Shelby Miller got the win for St. Louis, running his record to (11-7).

The win also moved the Redbirds back to within a half game of the first place Pittsburgh Pirates, who lost 4-2 to the Colorado Rockies.

The Cardinal’s and Reds play Game 2 of their series tonight, with broadcast time on 1049 KYTN set to start at 5:15.
