The St. Louis Cardinals took the rubber game of their series against the San Diego Padres last night 5-3, making them the first team in the Major Leagues to win 30 games.

In the 1st inning, an RBI triple by Matt Holliday made the score 1-0, with an RBI single by Allen Craig doubling the score.

Still in the 1st inning, Daniel Descalso made the score 3-0.

The Redbirds also had good defense on the night, with Carlos Beltran making a big double play in the 3rd inning.

The game was also the Major League debut for Cardinal starter Tyler Lyons, who was called up from Triple-A Memphis to replace the injured Jamie Garcia.

The left-hander threw seven innings, allowing only four hits and one run, while striking out four batters.

Yadiar Molina had four hits in the game, while Beltran contributed three.

St. Louis takes the day off today and will begin a three game series tomorrow night against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
