Cards Win 4th Straight

March 1st, 2013 - By Charles Choate

The St. Louis Cardinals exploded with a six run first inning Thursday, to beat the Miami Marlins 8-2.

The Redbirds got their biggest hit of the day in the inning, when rookie Oscar Taveras came to the plate with a 1-1 tie.

The Cardinals collected nine hits and won their fourth straight Spring Training game.

Pitcher Jake Westbrook and outfielder Carols Beltran were both forced to leave early, after being hit by baseballs early in the game.

Reports said Westbrook suffered a bruise to his leg, while Beltran had a bruised toe after being hit at the plate.

The Cardinals are taking on the Houston Astros this afternoon and will return to KYTN tomorrow against the Washington Nationals at 11:45.
