Cards Win Rubber Game 3-2 Over Padres

cardinals 3The St. Louis Cardinals used a big inning and a great game ending catch to beat the San Diego Padres 3-2 at Busch Stadium.

The Redbirds tied the rubber game of the series at 1-1 in the 3rd inning, when Allen Craig collected an RBI hit.

Still in the 3rd, David Freese gave St. Louis what would be the winning runs in the game with a 2-RBI double.

The ball game came down to a great game ending catch from left fielder Allen Craig, which preserved the series win and 2.0 game lead for the Cardinals in the Central Division.

The Redbirds now begin a three game homestand against the Philadelphia Phillies, with broadcast time tonight set to start at 6:20.
