Case Involving Coach and Former Player Heading to Grand Jury

April 26th, 2013 - By Steve James

A case involving a former high school basketball player and his coach will be heard by the Weakley County Grand Jury next month.

According to Attorney General Tommy Thomas, 18 year Javier Gordon will present his case that states Westview Head Coach JB Suiter allegedly “over corrected” him during a game that occurred back in February.

No charges were ever filed against Suiter after the claim was made.

Martin Police Chief David Moore said the department did investigate the incident and they didn’t find conclusive evidence to bring charges against Suiter, who is a well respected teacher and coach in the community, and is currently pursuing his doctorate in education at UT Martin.

The presentment on May the 6th will allow Gordon to state his case to the grand jury, who in turn can ask questions.

Jurors will then decide if there is enough probable cause to bring up any charges.
