County Unemployment Numbers

The October unemployment rates show that several area counties still rank among the highest in the state

Obion County was second highest in the state with a rate of 13.8 percent, and that’s an increase from 13.2 percent the month before.¬†Weakley County had the fifth highest at 12.5, and that’s a decrease from 13.1 percent.

Dyer County had the sixth highest rate at 11.8 percent, and that went up from the September rate of 11.3. Gibson County had the ninth highest with 11.6, and that also increased from 11.3. Lake County’s rate increase slightly from an even ten percent to 10.1

Lincoln County had the lowest rate at 5.1 and Scott County came in with the highest at 16.4. The rate decreased in 14 counties, increased in 64, and remained the same in 17.
