County Unemployment Numbers

December 27th, 2012 - By Steve James

The November unemployment rates dropped for many area counties in Tennessee, but several still rank among the highest in the state.

Obion County was second highest in the state with a rate of 12.3 percent, but that’s a decrease from 13.8 percent from the month before. Weakley County had the fifth highest at 10.9 percent, and that’s a decrease from 12.5.

Dyer County had the ninth highest rate at 10.6 percent, but that also dropped from the October rate of 11.8. Gibson County had the tenth highest with 10.3, and that’s down from 11.6 percent. Lake County’s rate dropped from 10.1 percent down to 9.1 percent

Williamson County had the lowest rate at 4.4 percent and Scott County came in with the highest at 15.3.

The rate decreased in 91 counties, increased in one, and remained the same in three.
