Covington to Forfeit Games

February 8th, 2013 - By Charles Choate

Second-ranked Covington, the top seed in the upcoming District 13AA boys basketball tournament and a team with a record of (26-2), has been forced to forfeit all of its regular season victories.

The TSSAA ruled today that two players, who reportedly transferred from Haywood County, were ruled ineligible.

As a result, a vote of league coaches dropped Covington to the No. 10 seed in the tournament, where they will play the South Gibson-Gibson County winner in Saturday’s play-in round.

Because of this decision, Obion County Central, who were set to host Milan tomorrow night at Troy, will now play in the tournament Tuesday night at Haywood County.

Also because of the Covington forfeits, tonight’s Westview at Crockett County game will be for the regular season league championship.
