Dresden Board Agenda

November 15th, 2012 - By Steve James

At tonight’s special called Dresden City Board meeting, they’ll vote on a yard sale ordinance, and discuss the option of a recycling program.

At the meeting earlier this month, this problem was brought up that some residents are having yard sales at their homes everyday, and its causing traffic problems among other things.

The Board discussed the matter, and created an policy that states residents can have one yard sale per quarter with no more than four a year on Thursday, Friday, Saturday from sun up to sun down. Tonight the board will have the final reading on the issue, and there’s a public hearing scheduled for 5:45 at City Hall.

The Board will also discuss the recent proposal from Barker Brothers to start a recycling program in the city. The plan calls for regular trash being collected once every other week, with recyclable materials being picked up on the alternating weeks.

Barker Brothers officials have said there would be a one dollar a month increase on the bill, but said they would lock the environmental and fuel rates for a year and defer the annual fee increase for five years.

This will be the first vote on the plan by the board, and the meeting starts at six o’clock at Dresden City Hall.
