Dresden Board Does Not Pass Ordinance

October 10th, 2012 - By Steve James

The Dresden City board has once again voted down an ordinance to cover drainage repairs in the city.

The drainage problem is along Pikeview Street, and Mayor Danny Forrester has said state law requires the city to approve an ordinance on the matter, and if it doesn’t pass, the city could become liable for any issues that stem from the drainage problems.

Last week, the Dresden Board voted down the ordinance, and City Attorney Jim Bradberry revised it for another vote Tuesday night.

The revised ordinance still did not pass with Alderman Jake Bynum, Donnie Essary, and Rob Newbill voting no and Ronnie Gearin voting yes. Dick Tidwell passed on the vote and Gwin Anderson was not present.

Mayor Forrester said the Board was in violation of state law, and would now contact state officials to see what the city needs to do now.
