Dresden Board Meeting

February 5th, 2013 - By Steve James

The topic of building inspection was a point of discussion at last night’s Dresden City Board Meeting.

Mayor Danny Forrester proposed hiring someone to handle any inspection and code issues that come up in Dresden. Mayor Forrester said right now, the state handles any inspection that needs to be done.

The Mayor suggested Certified Building Inspector David Kelly of Big Sandy. The Board approved the motion and Alderman Jeff Washburn will work with Mr. Kelly to go over current codes in place for Dresden.

In other business, the Dresden Board approved hiring Union City based Collection Management Services to help collect on unpaid utility bills.

The city currently has over $12,000 dollars in past due bills and the collection agency will now work with city officials to try and collect the funds and their fee is 33 percent of what is collected.

The Board ended the meeting by approving a bid of approximately $6400 dollars to replace the roof on the Police Department.
