Everett Stewart Access Road Opened

October 11th, 2012 - By Charles Choate

Local and state officials were on hand Wednesday in Union City, to officially open the new Everett Stewart Regional Airport access road.

The $6.4 million dollar project created a diamond interchange, off of State Route 22, to connect the airport to the four lane.

During the ceremony, Lindsay Botts, Chief of Staff for Transportation Commissioner John Schroer, said the road expansion was all about potential business growth.

Airport Director Jo Ann Speer was also on hand, and said the new road was a “dream come true” for the facility.

Work on the access road began in the spring of 2011 and was concluded this month.
