Former Judge Phil Harris Dies

Visitation will take place tonight for former Judge Phil Harris of Greenfield.

Judge Harris passed away Wednesday at the age of 94.

He served on the bench as Circuit Judge from the mid-1960′s until his retirement in 1990.

Judge Bill Acree said he knew and worked with Judge Harris for many years, and called him “fair” for the work he did.

Judge David Hayes, the former Senior Appellate Judge for the Court of Criminal Appeals, praised Judge Harris for his work on the bench and his dedication to his home of Greenfield.

Judge Harris was also the State Senator of the 28th District from 1953 thru 1955, and served as Weakley County Attorney and Greenfield City Attorney during his career.

Funeral services will take place Saturday morning at 11:00, at the Greenfield First Presbyterian Church.

Burial will be held in the Highland Cemetery.
