November 14th, 2012 - By Charles Choate

A former FedEx pilot from Cordova has been sentenced to prison for tax evasion.

U.S. Attorney Edward Stanton the Third said 62 year old William Boyer was sentenced to 33 months in prison on five counts of evading his income tax from 2001 thru 2005.

During his trial, the government proved Boyer had over $977,000 in taxable income and owed more than $285,000 in income taxes.

Following his prison sentence, Boyer will face three years of supervised release and will be required to pay restitution to the IRS in the amount of nearly $498,000.
