Freezing Rain Advisory

January 24th, 2013 - By Charles Choate

The National Weather Service has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory for several Tennessee counties, including Obion, Weakley, Lake and Dyer.

The Advisory is in affect from midnight tonight until 9:00 Friday morning.

Forecasters say the possibility of freezing rain during the period could cause hazardous driving conditions, especially on overpasses and bridges.

Power lines and trees could also become ice covered, resulting in falling branches and limbs.

Current forecasts for the northerly counties in Western Kentucky are calling for a mixture of snow and sleet, with accumulations of less than a half-an-inch.

Many roads in the Ken-Tenn area have already been pre-treated by road crews, with the salt brine mixture, in anticipation of the potential frozen precipitation.
