Hearing Today for Robbery/Kidnapping Suspects

December 5th, 2012 - By Steve James

The three UT Martin students charged with robbery and kidnapping have their preliminary court appearance today.

22 year old Jeremy Anderson of Knoxville, 21 year old Cortez Bowen of Memphis, 19 year old Richard Taylor, and 17 year old Quinton McClerkin of Paris were charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping and two counts of especially aggravated robbery.

They allegedly held two students at gunpoint and demanded approximately $700 dollars in cash and marijuana from them.

McClerkin had his transfer hearing last week, and it was decided he would be tried as an adult. His case was bound over to the January term of the Weakley County Grand Jury.

Anderson, Bowen, and Taylor will appear at one o’clock today in Weakley County General Sessions.
