Kidnapping Incident Bound Over to Grand Jury

December 5th, 2012 - By Steve James

The Greenfield man facing various charges of kidnapping in Brentwood and Sharon, had his case bound over to the January Term of the Weakley County Grand Jury.

22 year old Athanasios Edmondson was arrested for a domestic assault incident involving a 21 year old woman in Sharon. During the investigation, it was revealed he allegedly kidnapped the woman and brought her to Weakley County.

The victim, Bethany Campbell, gave a statement at Edmondson’s preliminary hearing yesterday.

She stated Edmondson broke into her home in Brentwood, and told her to come with him, or he would shoot her parents. The two then traveled to Sharon to a relative’s home where he allegedly punched her several times.

One of the relatives reportedly discovered what had happened, and put Ms. Campbell in a vehicle to drive her to the Sharon Police Station. According to the testimony, Edmondson then flattened one of the tires with a knife, and broke out a window.

Sharon police charged him with aggravated domestic assault and vandalism, and he faces charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, and aggravated burglary in Brentwood.

Edmondson’s case in Weakley County will be heard by the Grand Jury on Monday January 7th, and in the meantime, he’ll be sent to Williamson County for a hearing on the other charges.
