Local Counties in Weather Advisory

January 14th, 2013 - By Charles Choate

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of west Tennessee, including Obion, Weakley, Lake and Dyer County.

Forecasters from the Memphis Service say there is the chance of freezing rain through noon Tuesday.

Ice accumulations of less than one quarter of an inch could occur, mainly on trees, power lines and elevated road surfaces.

Weather Service officials say some damage to power lines and trees are possible, with slick and dangerous road conditions developing on bridges and other surfaces.

Temperatures today are expected to remain around 32-degrees, with overnight lows in the low-20′s.

Currently, western Kentucky is not included in the Advisory area, with forecasts calling for the chance of light snow this afternoon.
