Local Law Enforcement Honored at Conference

Martin Police Chief David Moore was named the 2013-2014 president of the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police at their annual Conference held earlier this month in Kingsport.

The Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police was founded in 1970 as a professional organization that works to shape policy and provide executive level training to agencies statewide.

As president of the association, Chief Moore will be responsible for acting as a liaison to Tennessee police departments throughout the state, the governor’s office, the state and federal office of Homeland Security, the Department of Safety, the Tennessee Legislature, the United States Congress, the TBI and FBI, Tennessee Municipal League, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

It was also announced at the 43rd annual conference, that Martin Police Lieutenant Philip Fuqua was named the Police Officer of the Year for The Western District.
