Man Charged in Connection With Bradford Fire

January 29th, 2013 - By Steve James

One person has now been charged in connection with the deadly fire in Bradford over the weekend.

Emergency personnel originally received a call around one o’clock Saturday morning about a structure fire at 432 US Highway 45 South.

33 year old Robert Lee Phillips escaped the house with minor injuries and said someone else was inside. When the fire was finally put out, body was in fact found.

Authorities charged Phillips with reckless burning. The affidavit stated Phillips and the other person went into the vacant home to seek shelter. They started a fire in a bathtub, but it grew out of control and only Phillips was able to escape.

The identity of the person who died hasn’t been released yet and the state medical’s examiner’s office still has the body pending DNA identification.

The investigation of the incident is still ongoing and more charges might be filed.
