Martin Board Meeting

January 15th, 2013 - By Steve James

The Martin Public Works Department will be getting a few new vehicles following last night’s City Board Meeting.

The Board approved the purchase of six trucks from the state. With the state bid price, they’ll average to around $20,000 dollars apiece.

The funds will come from the General Fund, the Solid Waste Fund and the Natural Gas Fund.

In other business, the Board gave an update of the Community Development Block Grant the city is applying for to improve the sewer system. If approved, the grant will be for $500,000 dollars, with the city having a nine percent local share.

Mayor Randy Brundige wanted to remind city residents that because of this grant, some households might have received surveys.

Mayor Brundige said these were a state requirement for the application and encourages those who got the survey, return it quickly so they can finish the application.

The Martin City Board will meet again next month on Tuesday February the 5th at 5;15 in the City Courtroom.
