Martin City Recorder Plans to Retire

January 9th, 2013 - By Steve James

The retirement of a city employee was the topic of discussion at last night’s informal Martin Board meeting.

Mayor Randy Brundige announced City Recorder Chris Mathis had come to him saying it was time to retire from the position.

Mayor Brundige said they were still working out the details and Mathis might stay on to work for a few days a week or to help train an eventually replacement.

Mathis has been the City Recorder for the past nine years and said he’s enjoyed his time with the city, but it came down to the fact he wanted to spend more time with his family

Mayor Brundige said they’ll start advertising the position soon and decide how much Mathis might work in the future.

The regular Martin Board meeting is scheduled for next Monday at 5;15 in the City Courtroom.
