December 6th, 2012 - By Steve James

A Martin man arrested for public intoxication, now faces charges of assault after allegedly threatening two police officers while in custody.

According to reports, Martin Police received a call from Dale’s Bar stating someone had their jacket stolen. When authorities arrived, they found 49 year old Richard Williams running out the back door.

Williams was caught and reportedly told officers he took the jacket because there were quarters in it that belonged to him. While speaking to the officers, they noticed Williams had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol.

He was placed under arrest for public intoxication, and while at the Martin Police Department, he reportedly told officers he would shoot them if he saw them again.

Williams was then charged with two counts of assault against a law enforcement officer , as well as the public intoxication charges.
