McCracken School Hires Basketball Coaches

Officials from the new McCracken County High School in Paducah, have announced the names of their selected basketball coaches.

Current Heath boys basketball coach Berlin Brower will guide the Mustangs in their initial season, with Josh Barnett, of Lone Oak, penned to lead the girls team.

The school system will be a joined group of the three county high schools of Heath, Lone Oak and Reidland.

Brower is a 16 year veteran at Heath, and former high school standout at Carlisle County.

His Pirates teams have twice won the First Region All-A Classic and once advanced to the semi-finals of the State All-A Classic.

Barnett had prior coaching experience at Caldwell County and Paducah Tilghman, before taking over the Purple Flash position in 2011.

Barnett led Lone Oak to a 43-24 record the past two seasons and has won 147 games in his career.

The new McCracken County High School will open for the 2013-2014 year, with approximately 1,900 students expected to attend.
