The New York Mets salvaged the final game of their four game series with the St. Louis Cardinals Thursday afternoon, winning 5-2.

St. Louis took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning, when shortstop Pete Kozma collected an RBI single.

It didn’t take long for the Mets to battle back, with David Wright driving in Daniel Murphy with the go-ahead run in the 3rd inning.

New York stretched the lead to 5-1 in the 8th inning, with Carlos Beltran giving the Redbirds their last run of the day.

Adam Wainwright took the loss for St. Louis, falling to (5-3) on the season.

Carlos Beltran collected three hits on the day for the Cardinals, as they lost for only the third time in the last 18 games.

St. Louis will now begin a three game weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers, with broadcast time tonight starting on 1049 KYTN at 6:20.
