A home run by Yadier Molina proved to be the deciding blow in the St. Louis Cardinals 4-1 win last night over the Chicago Cubs.

The Redbirds took the lead in the game, 1-0 in the 1st inning, when Allen Craig drove in his 53rd run of the season.

The Cubs Darwin Barney tied the game at 1-1 in the second inning with a sacrifice fly, but Molina broke the tie and put the Cardinals on top for good in the 6th inning with a 2-run blast.

Also in the 6th inning, Pete Kozma added to the score, when he drove home Jon Jay with an RBI single.

Jake Westbrook ran his record to (3-2) as he held the Cubs to only two hits in his seven innings of work.

The win again placed St. Louis 20 games over .500 at (46-26), and 2.5 games over the second place Cincinnati Reds.

The final game of the four game series with Chicago will air tonight on 1049 KYTN starting at 6:20.
