Nationals Force Game 5 Against Cardinals

October 12th, 2012 - By Charles Choate

The Washington Nationals have forced a Game 5 with the St. Louis Cardinals tonight in the nation’s capitol.

Washington evened the best-of-five playoff series in dramatic fashion yesterday, beating the Cardinals on a walk off home run by Jason Werth.

The Nationals took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning, when Adam LaRoche homered, collecting one of only two hits given by Redbird starter Kyle Lohse.

St. Louis evened the game in the 3rd inning, with Carlos Beltran picking up the sacrifice RBI.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 9th, when Cardinal relief pitcher Lance Lynn was called on to face Werth, who was leading off the inning.

Both teams collected three hits each in the game, which will be decided tonight with Adam Wainwright pitching for St. Louis and Gio Gonzales pitching for the Nationals.

Broadcast time on 1049 KYTN will begin at 6:42.
