New Bridge in Hickman County

November 7th, 2012 - By Charles Choate

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced plans to close a Hickman County road starting Monday.

Reports said KY 1037 will be closed for the rebuilding of a new bridge, located at the outside edge of Clinton.

The new bridge will replace a wooden structure located over the Canadian National Railroad Line.

The wooden bridge has been restricted to one lane since December of 2010, when inspectors discovered deterioration of the support structure.

The bridge was even closed for several days earlier this year due to a fire which was determined to be arson.

Transportation officials say Coffey Construction Company of Hickman has been awarded the bid to construct the bridge at a cost of just over $1.4 million dollars.
