New Cardinals Uniforms Anounced

November 16th, 2012 - By Charles Choate

The St. Louis Cardinals have announced new uniforms for the upcoming season, including a new Saturday home game look.

Cardinal President Bill DeWitt III unveiled the uniforms, which includes the alternate Saturday jersey, now saying “St. Louis” across the front, instead of “Cardinals”.

The use of a game jersey bearing the city name will be the first time for the organization since 1932.

The move makes the Cardinals the 27th Major League Baseball team to add an alternate jersey to their lineup, and the fourth team to go to an off-white color.

The “birds on the bat” logo for St. Louis was recently voted the best uniform in baseball, with each jersey requiring nearly 40,000 stitches and over one hour to produce.
