New State Fishing Proposals for 2013

October 11th, 2012 - By Charles Choate

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced some new regulation proposals for the upcoming year.

Agency reports indicate that in Region One, Redear Sunfish at Kentucky Lake will be reduced in creel limit from 30 to 20.

Officials say the change will make the state regulation more uniform, while distributing the harvest among fishermen.

The newly created Carroll County Lake will open on March 23rd, with guidelines for limits proposed.

Largemouth bass will be set at two per day, with an 18-inch minimum length limit.

Crappie will be set at 30 per day, with a 10-inch length limit, and Blue and Channel catfish will have a creel limit of five per day.

And also for the coming year, the TWRA will propose the use of bow fishing as a means to harvest Asian Carp.

TWRA board members will vote on these, and all state changes, when they meet on October 26th at the Reelfoot Lake State Park in Tiptonville.
