Rockies Pound Cardinals 8-2

Cardinals 2The Colorado Rockies salvaged one game of their three game series with the St. Louis Cardinals, beating the Redbirds 8-2 Sunday afternoon at Busch Stadium.

The Rockies broke a scoreless game in the 3rd inning, when Troy Tulowitzki took a pitch from Cardinal starter Jamie Garcia out of the park for a 3-0 lead.

In the 6th inning, Colorado upped the lead to 5-0, when rightfielder Charlie Blackmon also went deep against Garcia.

The Rockies also added three runs in the 8th inning for an 8-0 lead.

Matt Adams and Pete Kozma collected RBI’s in the bottom of the 9th for St. Louis, giving the Redbirds their only run production on the day.

Garcia fell to (4-2) with the loss, and the Cardinals (23-13) on the year.

St. Louis now starts a four game series at home against the New York Mets, with broadcast time tonight starting on 1049 KYTN at 6:20.
