The Dresden Lions have advanced to the to the TSSAA state semi-finals in Class-Double -A following a 34 to 7 win over Trenton Peabody.

Dresden led 20 to nothing at the half and scored 17 points in the second to eliminate the Golden Tide.

Dresden will now host host Adamsville who defeated Loretto 24 to 0.

The two teams met last year in the state semi finals and Dresden won but lost in the championship game to Frienship Christian.. Boyd Buchanan will now face Friendship Christian in the other semi-final game. If FC A and Dresden both win it will be a re-match of last year’s sate championship game.

Meanwhile, in Class-A Huntingdon defeated West Carroll 37 to 6 and will now face Nashville Christian at home in Huntingdon. N-C-A defeated Collinwood 42 to 35

In Class Triple-A Milan defeated Hickman County 35 to 6 and will head to middle Tennessee to face Christ Presybyterian Academy. CPA eliminated Cheatham County 31 to 27.

Also around the region in Class 4 -A

Covington defeated Memphis Trezevant 23 to 18

while Jackson Liberty outscored White House 27 to 23..

Liberty and Covington will meet next Friday night.

The winner will face either Giles County or Knoxville Fulton.

And in Class 5-A Jackson Northside remained unbeaten squeaking past Memphis Ridgeway 45 to 42 and will now host undefeated Beech next Friday.

In Western KY playoff action

Mayfield advances beating Ky Country Day 35 to 14. Mayfield will now travel Beech wood while Fairview will travel to Hazzard Kentukcy.

Caldwell County ended Murray’s season in a close game, beating them 10 to 7 Calldwell will face Louisville DeSales while Somerset will face Newport Central Catholic in the only other game involving West Kentucky schools.

In college basketball last night

Hawaii defeated UT Martin women 73 to 69

Jasmine Newsome led the Martin women with 25 points, 6 rebounds, five assists and three steals. Martin trailed 33 to 23 at the half. They’ll now play Baylor this eveing at 8:30. You’ll hear the broadcast on Mix 101.3

In other action Arkansas State men beat UT Martin 77 to 73

Murray State beat St. Johns 72 to 67

Kentucky beat Lafayette 101 to 49

UT Vols at Vanderbilt 95.1 430 air six kick

Tennesee State at UT M air time 1 kick off at 2pm 101.3
