School Springs Leak

January 8th, 2013 - By Steve James

They’re still mopping up the water at Gleason School after a main waterline pipe dislodged ┬ácausing thousands of gallons of water to flood the school.

School Director Randy Frazier said he was called by a Gleason staff member that told him water was running out of the boiler room into the hallway at the school.

Mr. Frazier said the Gleason Public Works Department turned off the water at the road to stop the flooding.

Three hallways, four classrooms, the teacher’s lounge, an office, weight room, concession stand in the older part of school were impacted. About two inches of water covered these areas.

Cleaning crews worked late into the nite to wet vac water from the building.

Repairs to the damaged pipe is on going and should be completed. Clean up and water damage assessments will be made later today.

Mr. Frazier said he expects classes to resume tomorrow. A damage estimate will be made available later.
