Skyhawks fall in triple over time

November 17th, 2012 - By Steve James

The University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball team left it all on the floor last night but fell to Arkansas State 77to73 triple overtime at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center

The game featured 17 lead changes and 15 ties, with neither team taking more than a six point lead at any point in the contest.

An 18-foot jumper by UT Martin’s Jeremy Washington with point 3 seconds remaining in regulation sent the game into overtime, while Arkansas State’s Ed Townsel hit a 25-foot off-balance three-pointer with 2 point 2 seconds left in the first overtime to extend the action.

Neither team scored in the second overtime period but the Red Wolves outscored the Skyhawks 12 to 8 in the third overtime.

UT Martin wraps up its three-game homestand on Tuesday, when they face Lyon College at 7 pm.
