In College Basketball last night…

Eastern Illinois defeated the UT Martin Women 84-79.

Coach Kevin McMillan noted that free throw shooting was a major deciding factor in the game’s outcome.

Skyhawk player Heather Butler tied an NCAA three point record last night.

She has now scored at least one 3 point shot in 69 consecutive games. She’ll have a chance to break the record on Monday when UT Martin hosts Eastern Kentucky.

Meanwhile Number 2 Notre Dame defeated Number 7 Tennessee women 77 to 67. Skylar Diggs scored 33 against the Lady Vols defense. Prior to the game a banner was hung in the rafters honoring coach Pat Summitt’s 1,098 wins in 38 seasons which gives her the most career win of any Coach men or women in Division One N C AA basketball.

In this week’s AP High School Basketball Polls,

In girls Class 3-A, Murfreesboro Riverdale took the top spot.

In Class 2-A Grainger is number one with Covington 2nd and Westview is at number five this week.

In Class A Union City girls remain at Number one.

In the Boys AP Poll“ In Triple-A Blackman is number one while Dyer County is 7th.

In Double-A C-P-A has the top spot followed by Covington at number three, Jackson South Side is number four, and Waverly is sixth.

In the Class A poll, Booker T Washington was number one and Union City is 6th
