Student Killed in Graves County

December 7th, 2012 - By Charles Choate

A Graves County High School student was killed Thursday morning in a two vehicle accident on KY 121.

Sheriff’s reports said 17 year old Kim Fortner, a junior at Graves County, pulled her car into the path of a log truck driven by 45 year old Kendall Thompson, of Scotts Hill, Tennessee.

Reports said Thompson could not stop the truck in time and struck the vehicle in the drivers side door.

Police reports said Fortner, and her 14 year old sister Julia Fortner, were taken to the Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield.

Kim Fortner died about one hour after the accident, with the sister not receiving life threatening injuries.

An investigation of the accident is still ongoing.
