TDOT TO Halt Construction for Holiday Period

December 19th, 2012 - By Charles Choate

The Tennessee Department of Transportation will again keep traffic flowing smoothly with a halt in construction for the Christmas and New Year’s holiday.

TDOT plans to halt all lane closure activity on interstates and state highways, in anticipation of high traffic volume.

The construction halt will begin this Saturday morning at 6:00, and will continue until 6:00 on the Wednesday morning of January 2nd.

Transportation Commissioner John Schroer said approximately two million drivers are expected to travel on Tennessee roadways during the Christmas and New Year’s period.

Triple-A also reports an expectation of a 2-percent increase in motorists on state roadways, with an estimation of over 84-million travelers by car across the nation this holiday season.
