Suspect Arrested for Wal-Mart Theft

January 16th, 2013 - By Charles Choate

Union City police say they have arrested a woman wanted for defrauding the Union City Wal-Mart store.

Investigator Derrick O’Dell said Melissa Fowler, of Ridgely, has been charged with Theft Under $500.

She was charged after collecting merchandise in a shopping cart and proceeding to the Service Desk for a return of the items.

The report said Fowler presented a receipt for the same exact items that were purchased at a Wal-Mart store in Dyersburg.

Police say she was given just over $306 for the items and left the store.

Union City Police thank everyone for contributing tips which led to the charges.
