Weakley County Schools Feeling the Flu Effects as Well

December 7th, 2012 - By Steve James

With school systems around the state, and several in the local area, having to shut their doors for a few days because of the flu, Weakley County Schools remain open, but they too have seen a spike of students out with the virus.

Director of Schools Randy Frazier spoke on the subject at Thursday’s school board meeting, Weakley County had 426 students out that day, which averages to about nine percent of those enrolled. On a normal day the district runs at about four percent

Sharon had the most out with 67, which was 30 percent.

Mr Frazier said there’s not a certain number or percentage of absent students to make the decision to cancel classes, but the school system is keeping a close eye on the situation.
